“The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Jersey City Fire Department are investigating a fatal fire at 270 Marin Boulevard,” the HCPO tweeted just after 7 a.m.

No additional information was immediately available, but this is the fourth fatality in Jersey City this year as investigators look into the cause of the fire.

In March, a 33-year-old man was fatally shot on Jordan Avenue and then a 25-year-old man was gunned down near the intersection of Central Avenue and Bowers Street earlier this month.

Then on Tuesday just after 12:40 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a report of shots fired in the area of Audubon Avenue and College Street. Responding officers located an extensive crime scene, according to the HCPO.

An unresponsive man – later identified as David Jones, 24, of Jersey City – was located at 1 College St. with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body. He was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 1:35 a.m.

At 3:25 p.m., the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office released additional details.

At about 4:50 a.m. this morning, the Jersey City Fire Department was notified of a fire in a high-rise residential building located at 270 Marin Boulevard.

Emergency responders found smoke coming from a unit on the twelfth floor.

An unresponsive man – later identified as Ramon Abello, 61, of Jersey City – was located inside a unit and transported to the Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced
dead just after 6:45 a.m.

The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation by the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Jersey City Fire Department. Foul play is not suspected at this time.
