Prosecutor: Bayonne man charged with January fatal shooting in Jersey City

A Bayonne man has been charged with a January fatal shooting in Jersey City that claimed the life of a 32-year-old man, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.

Nysheed Gleaton, 32, of Bayonne, has been charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon, Suarez said in a statement.

He was arrested during the early morning today by the Wallington Police Department and was in possession of a handgun.

On Sunday, January 23, 2022, at approximately 12:28 p.m. the Jersey City Police Department responded to a shooting in the area of 32 Belmont Ave.

Responding officers found a man – later identified as Rasheen Bostick, 32, of Jersey City – with an apparent gunshot wound to his torso.

He was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 12:55 p.m. This was the first recorded homicide in Hudson County in 2022.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department continue to investigate the fatal shooting.

Additionally, Suarez thanked the U.S. Marshals Service and the Wallington Police Department for their assistance.
