Authorities investigating fatal Jersey City shooting where 2 others were injured

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting where two other people were injured.

“The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating a shooting in the area of Jordan Avenue and Mercer Street,” the HCPO tweeted this morning.

“One individual was fatally wounded and two others are injured. More to follow.”

At 4 p.m., Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez provided more information.

Just before 6:30 a.m., the Jersey City PD was notified of shots fired on Jordan Avenue and responding officers located a crime scene on Jordan Avenue between Mercer Street and Vroom Street, Suarez said in a statement.

Three male victims were transported via a private vehicle to the Jersey City Medical Center.

Christoph Terrero Marte, 33, of Jersey City, was pronounced dead at approximately 7:35 a.m. Two additional victims, a Union City man, 28, and a Jersey City man, 31, were treated for injuries that are not considered life threatening.

The HCPO Homicide Unit and the Jersey City PD are actively investigating this matter. No arrests have been made at this time.
