A Jersey City man has been charged in 2022 Heights hit-and-run that badly injured a pedestrian in the Heights, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Yesterday, members of the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit arrested a man in connection with a hit-and-run that seriously injured a pedestrian in Jersey City on December 6th, 2022, Suarez said in a statement.

Brandon Espinosa, 42, of Jersey City, is charged with knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle collision resulting in serious bodily injury and endangering an injured victim.

He was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus and released pending his first court appearance, which is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, March 7th.

On Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at approximately 4:35 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck at the Griffith Street and Sherman Avenue intersection.

Responding officers found a 36-year-old Jersey City man with serious injuries and he was
transported to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment.

The striking vehicle did not remain at the scene and was recovered in the days following the collision following a public appeal to identify the vehicle.
