Laura Rodriguez, 36, of Bayonne, was charged with resisting arrest, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, obstruction of a governmental function, as well as being wanted on three outstanding warrants, according to Police Lt. Eric Amato.

Rodriguez was taken into custody at approximately 4:48 p.m.from the area of 6th Street and Broadway. While an officer attempted to arrest her on an active warrant, she resisted by pulling away from his grasp and flailing her arms, police said.

While doing so, she scratched the officer’s face and caused a cut to his thumb. She then assaulted a second officer by scratching his hand numerous times as he tried assisting with handcuffing her, officials said.

According to authorities, she was ultimately placed into handcuffs and both officers were treated at the Bayonne Medical Center for their injuries.
