The blood drive will take place at 1600 John F. Kennedy Boulevard, the JCEA headquarters, between 12 noon and 5 p.m. tomorrow, the event flyer says.

The flyer recommends that anyone participating must wear a face cover, weigh at least 110 pounds, and bring and ID. They also recommend hydrating before and after, as well as eating prior to giving a blood donation.

“We often hear about how our teachers work day and night providing their blood, sweat, and tears to help our students succeed. I am grateful they have commissioned this event to continue to provide support to a former student of this school district,” Ali said.

At the end of March, Ali, currently a student at Harvard Law School, announced that he was undergoing chemotherapy for Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

He has continued to serve in his elected post since then and hasn’t missed a school board meeting since his treatment began.
