“Jersey City needs a mayor who has the experience, vision, and passion to make Jersey City a more affordable, safe, and efficient city. I know Jim will put working families first and will fight for the city to remain a place that all can call home,” Guy said in a statement.

McGreevey formally announced his candidacy for the non-partisan November 4th, 2025 mayoral contest one week ago, the first time he’s running for office since resigning from the governor’s office due to an extramarital affair in 2004.

He is also a former state assembly, state senator, and mayor of Woodbridge.

“I am honored to receive Craig Guy’s endorsement and am eager to get to work with him to build a Jersey City where working families can stay and succeed,” McGreevey added.

“Craig understands the importance of affordability and safety in our city, and my administration will work in partnership with the County to improve Jersey City for all working families.”

Hudson County Commissioner Bill O’Dea (D-2) will kickoff his campaign at The View on Saturday, with Council President Joyce Watterman and Ward E Councilman James Solomon also on the early list of mayoral hopefuls.

Other possibilities include Hudson County Commissioner Jerry Walker (D-3) and former Board of Education President Mussab Ali.

  1. Where does Jim McGreevey live?
When did he move back to Jersey City?
Does he still own a mansion there?

What about their 4 German Shepherds?
Are we really supposed to buy that he lives in an old house on Garrison – or is it just a mailing address?
“Cloaked in ivy, the Wedgwood-blue Georgian Revival in Plainfield, N.J., has the air of an upper-crust fortress. Surrounded by 1.7 leafy acres landscaped by the firm of Frederick Law Olmsted, the 17-room house offers few clues about its owners. On a recent afternoon, a black Prius is parked in the drive and Easter-bunny cutouts romp across a lawn that slopes down to the quiet street.

As it happens, this $1.4 million retreat is home to one of Plainfield’s — if not New Jersey’s — most notable couples. James McGreevey is best known as the self-described “gay American” who, threatened with blackmail by a lover whom he’d placed on the state payroll, resigned as New Jersey’s governor in 2004. His partner, Mark O’Donnell, is an Australian financier with a taste for modern art and adventure travel.”
