Lenny Bolger, 30, of Union City, was charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and hindering by giving false information, Aguiar said in a statement.

Additionally, it was confirmed he also had multiple warrants out of Jersey City for robbery, aggravated assault, and making terroristic threats.

On March 12th, at approximately 6:10 p.m., Police Officer Rose Kanan observed Bolger on the 300 block of Jackson Street and knew him to have multiple warrants for his arrest out of Jersey City.

Police Officers Daniel Grossi, Daniel Barron, Mark Mooreman, and Jennifer Lee arrived on the scene. The officers approached Bolger, who initially gave them a false identity. When he realized they recognized him, he fled on foot.

After a short pursuit, during which Bolger attempted to injure officers by swinging a gate toward them, Bolger was apprehended in a parking lot on the 200 block of Harrison Street.

Sgt. Dennis Figueroa, and Police Officers Ramon Estrella, Ramon Calderon, Paul Quinn, and Shelby Seickendick were also on the scene to assist. No injuries were reported.

Bolger was arrested on the aforementioned charged and was ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

“Once realizing they had a potentially dangerous individual in their midst, the officers responded quickly, and without hesitation chased a suspected criminal with a successful outcome,” Aguiar added.

“Each and every one of the officers involved should be proud of themselves for their bravery and professionalism during this tense situation.”
