An 18-year-old Kearny man has been charged with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in the backyard of a Harrison residence in July, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Angel Aparicio De La Cruz, 18, of Kearny, is charged with sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal sexual contact, Suarez said in a statement.
Yesterday, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Aparicio De La Cruz so alleged sex crimes committed on July 11th, 2023.
He is currently being detained at the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance. The investigation determined the defendant met the victim on social media prior to the alleged assault.
Suarez credited the Special Victims Unit with the investigation and arrest, with assistance from the Harrison and Kearny Police Departments.
