Diarye Nzaken, 63, of Bayonne, was charged with attempted theft by deception, two counts of forgery, and falsifying records, according to Police Capt. Eric Amato.

Nzaken was taken into custody at approximately 3:39 p.m. at police headquarters after an investigation into a report into attempted fraud led to her being identified as the actor.

Back on March 16th, a representative of the Bayonne Economic Opportunity Foundation reported that a woman, identified as Nzaken, inquired about assistance with her rent, which was approximately $22,000 in arrears.

After producing the required lease documentation to confirm an active lease, it was apparent that the document had been fraudulently altered and Nzaken was denied assistance.

The investigation conducted by the Bayonne Police Detective Bureau led to Nzaken being charged accordingly, officials said.
