At 5:33 a.m. this morning, the Bayonne Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 481 Ave C. Arriving companies found fire coming from a third floor window in the multi-unit apartment building, according to Fire Chief Keith Weaver.
Firefighters used one hose line to knock down the blaze, which was declared under control in about 20 minutes and no injuries were reported.
The Building Department has deemed the one apartment as temporarily uninhabitable, displacing one occupant, who is under the care of Office of Emergency Management and the American Red Cross.
A fire investigation is underway, however, the fire appears to be accidental at this time.
“Due to our firefighters quick response and fire attack, the blaze was contained to the area of origin and all other occupants of the building were allowed to return this morning,” Weaver added.
