Bayonne again reveals overnight COVID-19 case decrease, 1st related death in 4 days

The City of Bayonne has again revealed an overnight decrease in their COVID-19 cases, also reporting their first virus-related death in four days.

“Mayor Davis has informed us that Bayonne has lost another resident to Coronavirus-
related illness, as a 53-year-old man has passed away,” the Bayonne Office of Emergency Management said in their daily update.

“This death brings our city total up to 54 people that have died due to this pandemic. Mayor Davis expresses his deepest condolences, on behalf of all Bayonne, to the family of our neighbor.”

OEM also indicated that there are currently 682 coronavirus cases, down from 690 on Sunday, and recoveries have now reached 207.

OEM Coordinator Ed “Junior” Ferrante noted that this is the fourth time the city has reported an overnight drop in recent days, with the first one recorded on April 20th.

This afternoon, the New Jersey Department of Health reported 15,881 cases of COVID-19 in Hudson County and 845 deaths, the second and third most in the state by county, respectively.
