Jason T. Porch, 24, of New York City, is charged with attempted robbery, assault, menacing, harassment, interference with transportation, terroristic threats, aggravated assault to a police officer, resisting arrest, trespass, and disorderly conduct, according to Port Authority spokeswoman Lenis Valens.

Sources familiar with the situation said that at approximately 1:36 p.m. yesterday, a man, later identified as Porch, attempted to steal a woman’s cell phone at the Christopher Street PATH Station.

He then boarded a New Jersey-bound PATH train and got off the train in the area of Newport Station in Jersey City.

Port Authority police apprehended Porch after a pursuit inside the Newport Station, which at least one observer said yielded a heavy law enforcement response.
