Prosecutor: 23-year-old Bayonne man fatally shot in Jersey City last night

A 23-year-old Bayonne man was fatally shot in Jersey City last night and his killer is still at large, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Yesterday, at approximately 5:55 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a report of gunshots in the area of Lembeck and Ocean Avenues, Suarez said in a statement.

Upon arrival, responding officers found a male victim on Lembeck Avenue with multiple
gunshot wounds to his torso. The victim was later identified as Eric Crocker, 23, of Bayonne, authorities said.

He was treated at the scene before being transported by Emergency Medical Services to the Jersey City Medical Center. Crocker was pronounced dead at approximately 6:30 p.m. and the cause and manner of death are pending an investigation by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, officials said.

The Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating this case with assistance from the
Jersey City Police Department and no arrests have been made at this time.
