Police: Bayonne man in possession of knife, cocaine robs victim of wallet, cell phone

A Bayonne man, who was in possession of a knife and cocaine, was arrested for allegedly robbing a Union City man of his cell phone and wallet on Monday, police said.

Bryan Ormiston, 24, of Bayonne, was charged with possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, unlawful possession of a weapon, robbery and possession of a controlled dangerous substance (cocaine) on Monday, according to Police Lt. Janine Foy.

Ormiston assaulted a 47-year-old victim near 1224 John F. Kennedy Boulevard and attempted to flee the scene with his wallet and cell phone, getting apprehended by police at the intersection of 55th Street and Avenue B at 1:36 p.m., authorities said.

He was caught with a folding knife and cocaine when he was arrested and the victim refused medical treatment for minor injuries, police said.
