A North Bergen man who used to be a teacher at Carteret Middle School is accused of sexually assaulting a student in 2022, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Carteret Police Chief Dennis McFadden announced.

Jeffrey Munguia, 32, of North Bergen, was charged yesterday with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, authorities said.
He no longer works for the school district, but he was the victim’s teacher when the alleged incident occurred, with no additional details provided on Thursday evening, beyond that the investigation is ongoing.
