In a letter to the editor, Jersey City community activist Adrian Ghainda reacts to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detaining someone in the Heights yesterday, highlighting a rally for immigrants scheduled for Thursday evening.
Dear Editor,
I’m disheartened to hear that ICE has ramped up its presence in Jersey City as recently as this week. It was confirmed that ICE was in The Heights on Monday, February 24, 2025, and that one individual was detained/arrested.
Jersey City, we need all our neighbors to protect one another. We need our City Council members and County Commissioners to take a stand with our community and reinforce the notion that they will refuse to cooperate with ICE.
This Thursday, February 27th at 5:30 p.m. in front of Jersey City Hall – 280 Grove St, Hudson County DSA, 32BJ SEIU, and Cosecha NJ will be holding a rally standing with our immigrant neighbors.
We stand in solidarity with all of our neighbors because no one is illegal!
Since ICE is ramping up efforts in Jersey City and it is unknown if they are working with any city/county/ or state agencies, we need to spread Know Your Rights information as quickly as possible.
If you can, I urge you to use the kits made by New Jersey Alliance for Immigrant Justice, Cosecha NJ, Make The Road NJ, and ACLU-NJ and share them with neighbors.
Please print out materials and share them with neighbors and most importantly, we need to be in community with one another. We need to stand and fight together against the draconian tactics the Trump administration is using in real time.
No action is too small, whether it’s volunteering to do rapid response to ICE sightings, sharing know your rights materials, or organizing with local community groups, Jersey City’s diversity will forever be our strength, not a weakness.

Let me get it straight: a crook who never qualified for entry should be protected from lawful removal? Like failed H1B wannabe from India (safe country). Or a pedophile from Honduras who skipped several safe countries and begun feel in mortal danger exactly after crossing Mexico/US border. Or a murderer from Kazakstan, and on and on. Mr Ghainda offers no distinction. Wholesale acceptance, no question asked. Then, they take jobs from and undercut pay rates for SEIU folks, who themselves could have barely afford to put food on the table even before the invasion.
Am I missing something Mr Ghainda?

The Democratic Party in Hudson County, State of New Jersey, and the Federal Democratic Party demands from the American Citizens that they stop complaining about illegal aliens and foreign nationals that are in the USA because their rights matter more than the American citizens and taxpayers. The Democratic Party wants the illegal aliens and foreign nationals not to be deported because they matter to the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party demand that the entire American citizens and taxpayers to stop complaining and keep paying high taxes to support the illegal aliens and foreign nationals and allow them to get government assistance programs, take jobs from low income and poor Americans, get US driver licenses, social security payments, food stamps, government housing, and more. These illegal aliens and foreign nationals need the American citizens to pay their taxes because without that these illegal aliens and foreign nationals have no money and the Democratic Party demands that American citizens pay their taxes to support these illegal aliens and foreign nationals and that they have rights to vote in all USA elections and live in the USA. Remember the Democratic Party supports and demands that the American citizens stop complaining and pay taxes and stop demanding that illegal aliens and foreign nationals to be deported. These people have more rights than the American Citizens. So Vote Democratic In Every Election and Pay your taxes.

What a ridiculous letter! We are being swamped by tens of millions of illegals and this letter writer thinks there is nothing wrong with that.
Makes you wonder why John Heinis repeatedly recycles such delusions and never takes a hard look. Obviously, he and Mr Ghainda have no problem with bringing “undocumented” Mr Gerson Fuentes to HC.
