LD-31 Candidate: ‘Smartest thing HCDO could do is give Bruce Alston the line’

4

Jersey City political activist and businessman, Bruce Alston (D), announced his candidacy for the NJ Assembly at his campaign headquarters on the corner of Orient and MLK drive.

Alston, an aspiring elected official who unsuccessfully ran for the state senate against incumbent Sandra Cunningham in 2011, plans to run in the 31st legislative district, which covers Jersey City’s south side and Bayonne.

After his announcement, Alston spoke to Hudson County View about the politics surrounding the race, starting with the incumbent in the district from Jersey City, Charles Mainor.

I followed up by asking him whether he thought he would run on the Hudson County Democratic Organization line in the 2015 Democratic Primary.

Finally, I asked him if he thought he would have the support of Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, whom he supported in his successful bid for mayor a year ago.
