Cirillo, currently also Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto’s (D-32) senior advisor, is expected to earn the new local gig without any opposition, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the situation.
As long as the appointment goes through as planned, Cirillo will leave his job at the statehouse, sources said.
According to a copy of the Guttenberg council agenda, two ordinances set to be voted on this evening pertain to the municipal administrator job: one to switch the position from part-time to full-time (with a range of $70,000 to $125,000) and one to appoint a new administrator.
Current Town Administrator Michael Caliguiro, a retired West New York cop, has already submitted his retirement papers, effective January 31.
The agenda did not make it clear if any other candidates were being considered by the council.
Cirillo could not immediately be reached for comment.
