The “Sires Team for West New York” has submitted over 15,000 petitions for nomination, the most ever submitted by a slate and well above and beyond the 241 required per candidate.

“I’m honored and humbled by the overwhelmingly positive response our team has received from West New York residents since we launched this campaign,” former Congressman, Assembly Speaker, and Mayor Albio Sires said in a statement.
“The Sires Team for WNY is ready to step into office on day one and continue to deliver the leadership that West New York residents expect, and we will spend the coming weeks working hard to earn the support of every voter.”
Joining Sires on his slate are Commissioner Victor Barrera, Board of Education President Adam Parkinson, BOE Trustee Marielka Diaz and housing advocate Marcos Arroyo, who sought the Republican nomination for Congress in the 8th District last year.
The slate will face a challenge from the “West New York Forward” team headed by Commissioner Cosmo Cirillo, who is running with Assemblywoman Angelica Jimenez (D-32), Commissioner Margarita Guzman, Walter Lopez, and Hiram Gonzalez.
The filing deadline for the non-partisan May 9th municipal elections is today at 4 p.m.
In regard to Mr. Arroyo, what exactly is a “housing advocate” and what has he accomplished in that role?
Also, are you sure he’s the same Marcos Arroyo that ran for Congress? I think youve got an error there
Same guy who ran for Congress last year, 100%.
So, Sires’ endorses Menendez Jr. for Congress and then puts Menendez Jrs opponent on his ticket for Mayor?
Why haven’t you pushed Sires’ to explain that decision?
We haven’t been able to get an interview going so far, tried several times, hasn’t happened yet.
