U.S. Rep. Albio Sires (D-8) is weighing in on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, stating that “this attack is a premeditated act of war that threatens global stability.”

“Putin has once again shown a blatant disregard for the sovereignty of Russia’s neighbors. This attack is a premeditated act of war that threatens global stability, human rights, and the foundations of democracy in the region. As the world watched in horror, Putin’s orders led directly to the loss of innocent life in his seemingly endless quest for power,” the congressman said in a statement.
“We are witnessing the continuation of the invasion of Crimea which resulted in Russia being removed from the Group of Eight (G-8) in 2014. We must go further to make sure Putin and his lackeys understand that we will not stand idly by while they threaten international law and democracy.”
He continued that he supports President Joe Biden’s (D) sanctions against Russia to restrict their access to U.S. capital.
Ukraine President President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that 137 of their citizens have been killed since the invasion began yesterday, with Biden meeting with fellow NATO heads of state earlier today to discuss the conflict, USA Today reported.
Thank you, Congressman Sires, for speaking for all of us, who, like you believe that bullies should be stood up to, and that our beleaguered Ukrainian Brothers and Sisters deserve our compassion, our support, and our solidarity.
