Prosecutor: Man arrested in Bloomfield for Jersey City double stabbing that killed man

A man was arrested in Bloomfield for a Jersey City double stabbing on Tuesday that killed one man and left one woman injured, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Yesterday, Joshua Gonzalez, 24, of Hoboken, was arrested at approximately 11:10 a.m. by members of the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force in the area of Franklin Street in Bloomfield.

Gonzalez was wanted in connection with the double stabbing on McAdoo Avenue that occurred on July 5th.

The HCPO Homicide Unit has charged Gonzalez with murder, attempted murder, felony murder, burglary, unlawful possession of a weapon (knife), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, resisting arrest by flight, and violation of a restraining order.

Following his arrest, Gonzalez was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny pending his First Appearance.

On Tuesday, at approximately 6:42 a.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to Clinton Avenue on reports of an aggravated assault. Responding officers found a 22-year-old woman with a serious apparent stab wound.

The woman was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where she remains in stable condition.

At approximately 10:00 a.m., the JCPD was notified that an injured person was located at 186 McAdoo Ave. Responding officers found the lifeless body of a man, later identified as Jason Khusial, 21, of Jersey City, with multiple apparent stab wounds.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:14 a.m. The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be multiple sharp force wounds to the torso and the manner of death to be homicide.

The investigation determined Khusial had been injured during the Clinton Avenue incident.

Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department with the investigation and the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force with the arrest.
