Anton Mair, 28, of Jersey City, is charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Suarez said in a statement.

He was arrested at a residence on East 12th Street in Bayonne and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.

On Sunday, April 23rd, at approximately midnight, the Jersey City Police Department received a report of shots fired on Danforth Avenue in Jersey City.

Upon arrival, responding officers located an unresponsive male – later identified as Khalil King, 23, of Fayetteville, North Carolina – inside a retail establishment at 152 Danforth Avenue with an apparent gunshot wound.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 12:16 a.m. The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the head and the manner to be homicide.

Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit, the Jersey City Police Department, and the Bayonne Police Department with the investigation and arrest.
