While receiving fewer applicants than anticipated, the Presinzano Civic Foundation board still voted to increase the scholarship amount by 50 percent from last year.

“The rising cost of education, food, and living expenses prompted the board to decide to increase the awards,” Paul Presinzano, also a 1st Ward council candidate, said in a statement.

“We cannot thank the Hoboken High School administration enough for their invaluable assistance in making this scholarship program a resounding success. Their unwavering dedication to the students of Hoboken aligns perfectly with our foundation’s mission. We are thrilled to continue supporting the future graduates of Hoboken High School.”

To qualify for these scholarships, students had to craft a 250-word essay on “What Hoboken means to them” and show they are registered to pursue higher education upon graduation.

According to their mission statement, the Presinzano Civic Foundation aims to nurture the potential of Hoboken’s youth and enhancing the lives of its senior citizens.

Individuals who wish to contribute to the foundation’s cause are invited to volunteer, donate, or offer support. For more information, the organization can be reached at info@prescivic.org or their website.
