At approximately 3 a.m. this morning, police responded to the intersection of 12th and Eerie Streets after receiving a call of a carjacking, police stated in radio transmissions.

Once at the scene, the victim – who was not identified as male or female – told authorities that a black male had stolen a black Mercedes-Benz, based on police communications.

The victim was said to have sustained minor injuries after being dragged a short distance by the car as the carjacker drove away, radio transmissions said.

Jersey City spokeswoman Jennifer Morrill did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment, but this story will be updated in the event comment is given.
