On June 14th at 11:12 p.m., Secaucus police responded to the Walmart located at 400 Park Plaza Drive on a report of a shoplifting. During the investigation, they located the suspect riding a bicycle from the parking lot, Police Chief Dennis Miller said.
He was shoplifting $464 worth of food from Walmart and after being approached by Walmart Loss Prevention, he fled on the electric bicycle. The suspect also ignored commands by officers to stop and continued to flee.
A police officer pursued him on foot and eventually took him to the ground in the parking garage nearest Park Plaza Drive, where he was found in possession of a crack pipe and two wax folds of suspected heroin.
As a result, Ismael Hernandez, 51, of Union City, was charged with shoplifting, obstructing the administration of law, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin).
Additionally, Hernandez was found to have an outstanding warrant issued out of North Bergen in the amount of $700. He was issued his complaint warrant and was subsequently transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility, authorities said.
They busted another crackhead. You know things are bad when they catch them crackheads!
