A 47-year-old North Bergen man was fatally shot on 48th Street on Friday afternoon, Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello announced.

Just after 1:30 p.m. yesterday, the North Bergen Police Department was notified of a shooting inside an apartment at 1525 48th St, Mello said in a statement.
Responding officers located an injured male – later identified as Christopher Novembre, 47, of North Bergen – with an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.
The cause and manner of death are pending with the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
The individual involved in the shooting has been identified and the circumstances regarding this matter are actively being investigated by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit, authorities said.
