A 45-year-old man was arrested last week for attempting to have sex with a 15-year-old girl in Secaucus after meeting her on an internet-based dating app, police said.

On April 9th, the Secaucus Police Department received information that a 45-year-old
man, identified as Barry Sloben, engaged in a conversation with a girl who he
believed was 15 years old via an internet based dating application, according to Police Chief Dennis Miller
On the same date, Sloben traveled to Walmart for purpose of meeting the 15-year-old girl with the intention to engage in sexual relations, though that didn’t end up happening.
Then, on April 26th around at 8:26 p.m., in furtherance of this investigation conducted
by the Secaucus Police Department Detective Division, Sloben was placed under arrest at their headquarters for enticing a child.
He was served his complaint summons and was released from police custody, authorities said.
