Police: 45-year-old man arrested for attempting to have sex with 15-year-old girl in Secaucus


A 45-year-old man was arrested last week for attempting to have sex with a 15-year-old girl in Secaucus after meeting her on an internet-based dating app, police said.

On April 9th, the Secaucus Police Department received information that a 45-year-old
man, identified as Barry Sloben, engaged in a conversation with a girl who he
believed was 15 years old via an internet based dating application, according to Police Chief Dennis Miller

On the same date, ┬áSloben traveled to Walmart for purpose of meeting the 15-year-old girl with the intention to engage in sexual relations, though that didn’t end up happening.

Then, on April 26th around at 8:26 p.m., in furtherance of this investigation conducted
by the Secaucus Police Department Detective Division, Sloben was placed under arrest at their headquarters for enticing a child.

He was served his complaint summons and was released from police custody, authorities said.
