Police: Miami man caught with loaded semi-automatic handgun in Bayonne

A Miami man was caught with a loaded semi-automatic handgun during a traffic stop in Bayonne early yesterday morning, police said.

Yorday Aguilar-Perez, 37, of Miami, Florida, was charged with possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a firearm, according to Police Capt. Eric Amato.

Aguilar-Perez was taken into custody at about 3:08 a.m. yesterday hours from the area of 25th Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard. After observing a vehicle commit numerous traffic law infractions, officers conducted a motor vehicle stop of the vehicle.

As they attempted to establish dialogue with the driver, later identified as Aguilar-Perez, they were met with uncooperative behavior and observed him attempting to conceal an object in the center console area of the vehicle.

The on-scene investigation led to the recovery of a fully loaded .380 cal. semi-automatic handgun from inside the vehicle, authorities said.
