“In order to more effectively remove debris from our streets, including discarded masks and gloves which pose a potential health threat, North Bergen is resuming street sweeping throughout the township,” their municipal website says.

“Parking enforcement for street sweeping will resume on Monday, May 11, 2020 on all North Bergen roads. This includes both the major thoroughfares and all side streets throughout the township.”

North Bergen suspended their parking regulations at the end of March, opening eight different parking lots for residents to use with schools switching to remote learning.

Meanwhile, in the neighboring Town of Guttenberg, Mayor Wayne Zitt said in a letter to residents that “enforcement of parking regulations” will be back in full effect tomorrow.

Any vehicle without a residential or visitor parking permit will be ticketed and warnings were issued this past week, which was used as a grace period before enforcement fully returns.

Anyone seeking a residential of visitor permit can call the Guttenberg Department of Public Safety at 201-868-2315, extension 101.
