North Bergen Police Dept. promotes 2 sergeants, 2 lieutenants, and 2 captains

The North Bergen Police Department promoted two sergeants, two lieutenants, and two captains at a Township Hall ceremony yesterday.

“These promotions are a testament to the unwavering dedication of our law enforcement professionals in North Bergen. Our officers have consistently demonstrated their commitment to public safety, and I have no doubt they will continue to excel in their new roles,” state Senator (D-32)/Mayor Nick Sacco said in a statement.

“This is a significant moment for the North Bergen Police Department. It’s a testament to our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and service to our community. These officers have already demonstrated their exceptional skills and dedication throughout their careers, and I am confident they will continue to serve the community with distinction,” added Public Safety Commissioner Allen Pascual.

Nicholas Galliano and Michele Suarez were both promoted to captain, Thomas Yfantis and Santiago Hernandez were each promoted to captain, while Sean Rahbari and Jeffery Gonzalez earned the distinction of captain.

Galliano has 16 years of experience in law enforcement, including patrol, the Hudson County Prosecutors Office Task Force, the detective bureau, property and evidence, and most recently, the record room.

Suarez has also served on the HCPO Task Force, as well as in patrol, the narcotics unit, field operations, BCI, and most recently, in internal affairs.

Yfantis is a field training officer that has worked in patrol, traffic, internal affairs, and the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office, while Hernandez has worked in patrol the IT department, and internal affairs.

Rahbari played a crucial role in the 1033 Program, resulting in the acquisition of over $2.5 million worth of equipment and vehicles for the Police Department, and Gonzalez, a field training officer, has specialized training in crisis negotiation, drug identification, and deceptive behaviors.

Police Chief Peter Fasilis served as the master of ceremonies for the swearing-in, and Father Yuvan Alvarez delivered the invocation and benediction.
