Dear Editor,

Next Tuesday, we have a crucial election that will shape the future of Hoboken and Hudson County, and early voting begins today.

I have worked closely with Ravi Bhalla for nearly two decades. Ravi has effectively tackled our community’s most pressing issues, including flood resiliency, infrastructure upgrades, parks and green spaces, and Vision Zero initiatives for pedestrian safety.

Hoboken is an amazing community, and Mayor Bhalla’s leadership is a huge part of our City’s success. Don’t believe the misinformation and desperate attacks from Mayor Bhalla’s opponent.

I know Ravi personally. I have seen his integrity, his commitment, and his passion for service to this community. Ravi has successfully worked to make Hoboken a national model for good governance, addressing flood resiliency, pedestrian safety, and so much more.

Mayor Bhalla’s six years of successful leadership as Hoboken Mayor, coupled with eight years of experience as a Councilman, demonstrate his proven ability to deliver results.

He is the leader Hudson County and the residents of the 8th Congressional District need, running on his long record of real accomplishments.

I wholeheartedly endorse Mayor Ravi Bhalla for Congress in the Democratic Primary and encourage you to vote early or vote on Election Day, June 4.

Phil Cohen
Hoboken City Councilman

  1. From what I have observed, Rob Menendez Jr. is doing a good job of representing this District and there is little reason to change things right now – other than to satisfy Bhalla’s political ambitions. Had Menendez Sr. not gotten in trouble – again – Bhalla would probably not have made a run during this cycle. He offers nothing new.
Second, “integrity,” to borrow from Councilman Cohen, is typically not something one associates with Mayor Bhalla; his Censure by the NJ State Court and dealings with JC Mayor Fulop leap to mind. Bhalla has received little support from those who work WITH him and a ton of support from those who are beholden TO him – that ought to tell us something.

  2. Ravi has been spending taxpayer money likes it’s rain on himself. His incompetent fattened staff in the mayor’s office has treated Hoboken with contempt. They use hate and division regularly and his objective for years was to use Hoboken to get out and leverage it for personal gain. Worse, he’s cursed the woman who elevated him to the mayor’s office. Dawn Zimmer treated Hoboken’s money with care. This mayor abuses it and us with no care. Retire Ravi!

  3. Doctors worked round the clock last night to removed what they initially thought was a oversized hemorrhoid from Mr Bhalla… To the team’s surprised it was later realized the CT scans were wrong.

  4. “Ravi has successfully worked to make Hoboken a national model for good governance…” Really, Phil???
This administration’s governance has been anything but model – lawsuits galore, shady dealings with cannabis shop applicants, patronage jobs, budget inflation, project delays and cost overruns, a terrible deal on the Union Dry Dock project. The list goes on and on.
I hope people will realize this and vote for Rob Menendez next week.
