“The POBA is saddened by her loss and offering prayers and love – and any other support necessary – to her family,” said Jersey City Police Officers Benevolent Association spokesman Steve Lenox.

Sources with knowledge of the situation said her death is not considered suspicious, but was did not provide any other details.

The officer’s family has a long history in Jersey City: her brother is a Jersey City police lieutenant, her mother, Maureen, is on the board of commissioners for the local municipal utilities authority, and her father, Michael, who passed away in 2001, was a captain for the fire department.

Hulings death is the third loss for the JCPD this year: in January, Lt. Christopher Robateau succumbed to serious injuries after being hit by a car on the turnpike, while Officer Ramon Torres died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in March.
