Verdibello, running for the fourth year in a row, and Thomas have both recently shown their ability to cultivate support from local elected officials in the past week, while Valentin served on the board for a decade between 2004 and 2014.

“Sudhan, Angel and Gina are unparalleled in their levels of experience and expertise when it comes to advocating for the students, parents and staff while being ever-mindful of their responsibility to Jersey City taxpayers,” JCEA President Ron Greco said in a statement.

The JCEA backed the winning BOE ticket in 2014 and 2015, while the Parents for Progress team successfully got Jessica Daye, Micheline Amy and Ellen Simon elected in 2013.

None of the aforementioned incumbents will be seeking re-election for their three, three-year terms, leaving this race up for grabs.

While 13 candidates filed their petitions for nomination last month, Dejon Morris and Jose Vazquez dropped out of the race prior to the county’s ballot selection process on Monday, as Hudson County View first reported.
