A spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, better known as ICE, says contrary to what some have heard, the agency did not perform any raids in West New York on Thursday – though some agents paid a visit to the North Hudson municipality.

“ICE was in West New York conducting targeted enforcement actions. No raids,” Luis Martinez, the New Jersey spokesman for ICE, told Hudson County View this afternoon.
Chatter persisted throughout the day Thursday the ICE agents had been spotted up and down Bergenline Avenue in West New York, but town officials could not confirm anything other than ICE agents had been conducting law enforcement business.
Martinez declined to go into details of what the agency considers “targeted enforcement actions,” also neither confirming or denying that they made any arrests in West New York.
A source, who spoke under the condition of anonymity since they were not authorized to speak on the matter, said local officials were not notified that ICE agents would be coming to West New York on Thursday – an indicator that raids were unlikely.
