UPDATED: Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office investigating apparent fatal shooting in Hoboken

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating an apparent fatal shooting that occurred in Hoboken last night, taking the life of a 26-year-old South Jersey man.

“The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit is responding to 300 Grand Street in Hoboken on a deceased male with apparent gunshot wounds. More info to follow,” the law enforcement agency tweeted at 11:41 p.m. last night.

At 10:57 a.m., Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez released more information.

Yesterday just after 10:30 p.m., members of the Hoboken Police Department responded to an apartment at 300 Grand St. on a report of deceased male.

Responding officers found the victim, a 26-year-old Willingboro man, later identified as
Marquise Davis, with apparent gunshot wound(s) to the upper body. The victim was pronounced deceased at 10:52 p.m. at the scene of the shooting.

The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

If ruled a homicide, this would be the first murder in Hoboken since January 2017.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Hoboken Police Department are actively investigating this case and no arrests have been made at this time.
