Hudson County Spokesman Jim Kennelly confirmed that Fallacara resigned this week for personal reasons and was not related to the performance of his duties as parks department director.

“Denise D’Alessandro, director of the county ‘s Department of Roads and Public Property, will serve as acting director of parks while County Executive Craig Guy decides on Fallacara’s successor,” Kennelly said in response to an inquiry from HCV.

“D’Alessandro’s department’s duties have significant overlap with those of the parks department—which made her a logical choice to serve in this role on an interim basis.”

According to public records, Fallacara was hired by the county in mid-2010 and the parks director oversees over 600 acres of recreation space – both passive and active – according to the county website.

Fallacara was one of 16 arrested in an FBI sting in August 2005, with then-U.S. Attorney Chris Christie’s office alleging that Fallacara was “was an associate of the Genovese Crime Family and part of the crew headed by Joseph Scarbrough.”

Then an inspector for the now defunct Jersey City Incinerator Authority, Fallacara was accused of being “involved in the sports bookmaking operation, football ticket operation, and the collection of unlawful debt.”

He pleaded guilty to one count of racketeering conspiracy and was sentenced to 27 months in prison by U.S. District Court Judge William J. Martini in August 2006, public records show.
