Bayonne passenger, 31, killed in Jersey City after van hits parked tractor trailer

A Bayonne woman who was a passenger in a van was killed in Jersey City after the vehicle collided with an unoccupied, parked tractor trailer, authorities said.

At approximately 12:20 a.m. this morning, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a motor vehicle collision on Route 185 in the area of the Linden Avenue East intersection, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Upon arrival, responding officers located a 2019 Nissan passenger vehicle that had collided with the rear of a parked and unoccupied tractor trailer. The female driver and two female passengers were transported to Jersey City Medical Center by EMS.

A female passenger — identified as Stephanie Weymouth, 31, of Bayonne — was
pronounced dead shortly after 1:00 a.m. The 28-year-old driver, of Staten Island, and a 27-year-old passenger of Old Bridge were treated at JCMC with non-life-threatening injuries and released.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City PD are actively investigating this case and no arrests have been made at this time.
