HerreraPAC, a political action committee founded by former Bayonne city council candidate Daniel Herrera, has endorsed Police Sgt. Henry Marrero for commissioner in North Bergen.

“It’s clear that Sgt. Marrero has his heart and mind in the right place. He is serious about cutting our deficit, promoting accountability, and protecting civil liberties.” Herrera said in an email.

“We are willing to stand by a candidate who will not only be a true representatives, but who also stands up for the working class. It is clear that Sgt. Marrero is the right choice for North Bergen.”

HerreraPAC is an independent political action committee which supports candidates, regardless of political parties, who want to scale back the size of government, lower taxes, support small business, and protect civil liberties, Herrera said.

Herrera is a Republican, while Marrero is a Democrat.

Marrero, a former freeholder candidate, is running independently in a vicious political war that has pitted Mayor Nick Sacco against longtime rival Larry Wainstein.

In an interview with Hudson County View on Monday, Marrero called for a two-term limit on the mayor’s seat (in certain circumstances), no more township vehicles and no more politicking in schools and the police department, among other initiatives.

The North Bergen municipal election takes place on Tuesday, May 12.

  1. Better go for the commissioner position in North Bergen then take on MASTER Sacco. He can’t bet that man. Marrero and his people against Sacco and his people he has no chance. I like the dude though (for a cop) or at least I like everything he has to say so far.
