The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred in the Jersey City Heights last night, the second homicide in the city from Saturday.

“The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and JCPD are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred Saturday night at approximately 10:30 pm on Cambridge Avenue in Jersey City in which one person was killed. More info to follow,” the law enforcement agency tweeted early this morning.
According to police radio transmissions, the incident occurred at 151 Cambridge Avenue and the victim was stabbed in the neck.
At 11:49 a.m., Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez released more details.
Steven Bardsley, 55, of Jersey City, has been charged with murder, possession of a weapon (knife) for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Last night just after 10:00 p.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department
responded to the area of 151 Cambridge Ave. where they found a lifeless man –
who at this time remains unidentified – with a stab wound(s) to neck.
The victim was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 10:20 p.m. The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner.
Bardsley was apprehended a short time later by Jersey City police officers on Central Avenue.
Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department for the investigation and arrest.
This is the second Jersey City murder from Saturday being investigated, with 26-year-old Raquan Bass being fatally shot near 94 Grant Ave. at 11 a.m.
