Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop raised approximately $800,000 for governor in the third quarter, already hitting full matching funds for the June 3rd, 2025 primary, his campaign said this morning.

“In less than six months since we launched this campaign we have already achieved more than just about anyone thought was possible thanks to the incredible level of support we are receiving from elected officials, community leaders and residents throughout New Jersey,” Fulop said in a statement.

“Now that we’ve completed our fundraising campaign for the Primary, we’ll be able to focus our time on organizing and continuing to build support in all 21 counties. I would like to thank each and every one of the more than 2,000 donors who made this possible because they believe in our vision for New Jersey’s future.”

His campaign has now raised enough to qualify for matching funds, reaching the current expenditure limit of $7.3 million for the primary, with additional funds already raised to account for the expectation that the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission will increase the spending cap for the 2025 election to adjust for inflation.

The Fulop campaign received contributions from over 650 donors in the third quarter and over 2,000 individual donors since its launch, with amounts ranging from $50 to the current maximum allowable contribution of $4,900, they said on Thursday.

He also has two super PACs working in his favor: the Coalition for Progress, which reported $6,507,017.21 cash on hand on June 30th, and the Fund for Quality Leadership, which had $312,347.47 as of July 21st.

At the end of the second quarter, over $13 million had been raised towards Fulop’s bid for governor, which included contributions from contributions from many prominent Hudson County politicos, as HCV first reported.

Fulop has earned the support of Democratic county chairs in Hudson and Warren counties as well as the likes of Co-Chair Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small, Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora, Assemblywoman Sadaf Jaffer (D-16), Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty, Westfield Mayor Shelley Brindle, and Hillside Mayor Dahlia Vertreese, among many others.

For the time being, Fulop is the only declared gubernatorial candidate in the field, with other potential opponents including U.S. Reps. Josh Gottheimer (D-5) and Mikie Sherrill (D-11), as well as Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin (D-19), and former state Senate President Steve Sweeney.
