Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis has revealed that Kate Howard LTD will no longer be the developer for the vacant Harbor Station South land, a portion of the former Military Ocean Terminal, so the project will again be accepting requests for proposals (RFPs). Harbor Station South

“The fact that Kate Howard LTD and the City could not execute a final deal on the land known as Harbor Station South is disappointing to say the least. However, setbacks will not deter us from pursuing sale and development of the property,” Davis said in a statement.

“Harbor Station South remains a part of my agenda for economic development and revitalization of the City. There remains and incredible amount of interest in the site. In an effort to organize that interest we will be advertising a new RFP for Harbor Station South to ensure that we can get a sampling of the best of what the market has to offer.”

Kate Howard LTD was announced as the developer back in September, proposing a plan that included a 300-room hotel and at least 750 residential units.

Howard H. Li, principal of Kate Howard LTD, expressed his enthusiasm about the announcement at the time by stating:

“We are excited to invest in the City. I believe there is great opportunity to bring a world class hotel to the area and a premier shopping experience.”

Li is also the chairman of the Waitex Group, which has owned a major logistics center on Pulaski Street in Bayonne for the past 15 years.
