Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla and Katie Brennan, the Democratic nominees for state Assembly in the 32nd Legislative District, are declaring that the State of New Jersey must pull tax credits for any TV networks that censor people like ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel.

The candidates called the indefinite suspension of Kimmel, for what were deemed insensitive remarks in light of the death of Charlie Kirk, an unacceptable attack on free speech and democratic values that New Jersey cannot tolerate.
“This is no laughing matter. It’s flat out un-American and we have a responsibility to do something about it,” Brennan began in a statement.
“If these companies are going to sell out free speech to protect their bottom line, we shouldn’t be rewarding them with millions of dollars in tax breaks. We can’t normalize anti-democratic behavior like this. It’s disqualifying for everyone involved.”
The cancellation comes just two months after Paramount’s CBS ended Stephen Colbert’s Late Show under similar circumstances after pressure from the President Donald Trump (R) administration.
This came right after CBS settled a lawsuit with Trump over an edited then-Vice President Kamala Harris interview for $16 million.
Each network had business pending before the Trump Administration at the time of the cancellation: Paramount’s recently approved merger with Skydance Media, and Nexstar, owner of ABC affiliate stations, acquiring Tegna.
“Free speech is the foundation of our democracy. Censoring comedians is what happens in dictatorships,” added Bhalla.
“These networks have a choice, and they’re choosing to bend the knee. We have a choice here, too. New Jersey needs to push back with all the leverage we have. If we don’t stand up to this, it’s only going to get worse.”
New Jersey has rapidly expanded its film tax credit program in recent years, with a total annual budget of $800 million.
Brennan and Bhalla called on New Jersey to cancel any film and TV tax credits to ABC/Disney and other networks that cave to Trump administration pressure by firing or canceling shows based on political speech.
“We can’t go down without a fight. We have to draw the line somewhere,” concluded Brennan.
“It’s not enough to say this isn’t okay. We need to back it up with action,” Bhalla noted.

Patterns are clear:
Coordinated advertiser boycotts.
Public celebrations of people losing jobs and businesses.
Two sets of rules — the Left can lie (Russia hoax, Covington kids smear, Jussie Smollett, etc.) and laugh about it, but the Right gets destroyed.

When you refer to the “clot shot” I assume you refer to the Johnson and Johnson shot, which did prove to have some rare, but yes, unacceptable such side affects in some younger individuals. This was NOT true of Moderna or Phyzer COVID vaccines. Get your facts straight. While the m94 mask was indeed cumbersome to wear, especially for a prolonged period, it offered far superior protection against COVID that those silly designer cloth masks that filtered out some particles only but not covid.
