Authorities are probing an early morning Kearny crash were two people were critically injured, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Members of the Kearny Police Department responded to the area of Route 7 and the Harrison Avenue split at approximately 4:08 a.m. this morning on reports of a vehicle  that crashed into a disabled tractor trailer, Suarez said in a statement.

All four occupants of the car were transported to University Hospital in Newark. The 21-year-old driver, a Garfield man, and a second rear passenger, a 20-year-old male, are listed in stable condition. 

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old woman and 20-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries.

According to the initial investigation, the driver – who was traveling west on Route 7 in a 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer – collided with a tractor trailer that was disabled on the side of the road. 

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and Kearny Police Department are actively investigating this incident.
