Prosecutor: Jersey City man, 24, charged with sexually assaulting 13-year-old girl

A Jersey City man, 24, was charged with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl at his residence after meeting her through social media, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Yesterday at approximately 10:50 a.m., members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Steffon Fowler, 24, of Jersey City, on charges involving the sexual assault of a 13-year-old female victim at his residence on Arlington Avenue, Suarez said in a statement.

He was arrested without incident after surrendering himself at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City.

On January 17th, members of the SVU were notified by the Jersey City Police Department
about an alleged sexual assault of a Montclair girl by a man she met on social media.

Fowler was later identified and arrested following an investigation by the SVU.

He has been charged with one count of sexual assault, one count of endangering the welfare of a child, and one count of criminal sexual contact.

After his arrest, Fowler was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny pending his first appearance.

Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit with the
investigation and arrest.
