“Tommy understands that safe neighborhoods and responsive government are the foundation of a strong city,” Ashe-Nadrowski said in a statemnet.

“Residents deserve streets that are safe, clean, and well-maintained, and a City Hall that listens and responds. Tommy will fight every day to protect our quality of life in the Third Ward.”

A Bayonne resident for over 50 years, Gillen has served as a 911 operator to working patrol, detective assignments, and most recently as an executive aide to then-Hudson County Sheriff Frank Schillari.

Public service in public safety is in his blood: His grandfather served as Jersey City police officer and Hudson County sheriff, his father is a retired police officer, and his brother is a Bayonne firefighter.

Furthermore, his wife is a lieutenant  in the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office.

Tenants of his campaign will focus on strengthening neighborhood safety, improving communication between residents and City Hall, addressing quality-of-life concerns like traffic enforcement, street conditions, and cleanliness, and ensuring government transparency and accountability.

“I’ve spent my career protecting this community. Now I’m ready to bring that same commitment to the Third Ward — making sure our neighborhoods are safe, our concerns are heard, and our city government works for residents,” added Gillen.

The Ashe-Nadrowski ticket has Gene Perry running in the 1st Ward, Board of Education Trustee Melissa Godesky-Rodriguez in the 2nd Ward, Miriam Salama and Mark Bottino for council at-large, all as HCV first reported.

Her opponent for the May 12th non-partisan mayoral race is Councilman at-Large Loyad Booker.

His ticket consists of 1st Ward Councilman Neil Carrol, former 2nd Ward Councilman Sal Gullace, 3rd Ward Councilman Gary La Pelusa, the council president, and council at-large candidates Ramon Velez and Melissa Enriquez-Rada.
