Prosecutor: Hoboken man, 33, busted with handgun, heroin, fentanyl, & cocaine

A Hoboken man was busted with a handgun, two large capacity magazines, heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine on Thursday after an investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics and Gangs Task Force, Prosecutor Wayne Mello announced.

Alexander Armstead, 33, of Hoboken, is charged with unlawful possession of weapon by a person with a prior NERA conviction, possession of a firearm while committing a controlled dangerous substance offense, certain persons not to possess a firearm, two separate charges of possession with the intent to distribute (heroin/fentanyl), two counts of Possession with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of public property, two counts of possession with the intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school, those same charges for distributing cocaine, two counts of possession with the intent to distribute, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and two counts of possession of prohibited devices (large capacity magazines).

The narcotics and weapon were recovered during a court-authorized search of the defendant’s apartment and three juveniles were present at the time the warrant was executed.

Armstead was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.

Mello credited the HCPO Narcotics and Gangs Task Force and the Hoboken Police Department with the investigation and arrest.
