Prosecutor: Jersey City pedestrian, 37, badly injured in downtown hit-and-run

A 37-year-old Jersey City pedestrian was badly injured in an early morning hit and run that occurred downtown, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.

Shortly before approximately 1:30 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck in the area of Bay and Erie Streets, Suarez said in a statement.

Responding officers located a man, later identified as a 37-year-old Jersey City resident, with serious injuries and the striking vehicle did not remain at the scene.

The victim was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where he remains in stable condition.

The circumstances of the collision are being investigated by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
