“Lost all house hold items clothes, furniture etc… I greatly appreciate it,” North Bergen resident German Valencia wrote on a GoFundMe page launched yesterday.

While the description is short, that’s all members of the community needed to know to decide to get involved: as of 9 a.m. this morning, the page has already shattered their goal of $2,000, with 39 people raising $3,297 in just 17 hours.

The fire, which broke out at a two-story home at 807 87th St. around 1:25 a.m. Sunday, was deemed under control by about 3:00 a.m., according to North Hudson Regional Fire & Rescue Chief Frank Montagne.

One firefighter was hospitalized due to undisclosed injuries, but is expected to make a full recovery.
