“This is outstanding police work across the board, and exactly how we are driving violence down in this city,” Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said in a statement.
“From immediate response to thorough investigative follow-through, this is how we protect our communities and hold violent offenders accountable.”
On April 14th, officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Clendenny and Bergen Avenues. With assistance from the Jersey City PD Cease Fire Unit, officers quickly identified two individuals involved.
One suspect, 18-year-old Tysaan Menter, was arrested and is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder and unlawful possession of a handgun.
The firearm, which was safely recovered by police, was loaded and later determined to be stolen. No injuries were reported.
Jersey police officers made an arrest in a separate incident that occurred on April 9th near Pavonia and West Side Avenues, where a male victim was found with gunshot wounds.
Following a thorough investigation, Isaac Ross was located and arrested on April 15th by members of the Cease Fire Unit and Criminal Warrant Squad, working in coordination with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.
The 43-year-old faces several charges including attempted murder.
“These arrests reflect exactly the kind of policing our residents expect and deserve,” added Mayor James Solomon.
“In both cases, Jersey City police officers moved quickly, used intelligence and coordination across units, and took dangerous individuals off our streets before more harm could be done.”
